London 3x3 Is Officially British

London 3x3 now flies the British flag as the transition away from the team’s American origins is complete.

After a debut season on the World Tour that exceeded all expectations, momentum quickly turned toward preparation and anticipation for the 2026 FIBA 3x3 World Tour season. Previously known as London 3x3 USA, the team has finalised its transition to British ownership and will now compete as London 3x3 GBR.

This marks a significant moment for the domestic 3x3 landscape and the wider basketball community. For the first time, Great Britain has official representation at the highest level of the professional 3x3 circuit, a position strengthened not only by ambition but by an already rich and proven team history, and numerous successes on the international stage.

The change follows a shift in the dominant nationality within the squad, moving from American to British. Under FIBA regulations, this reclassification allows six British players to make up the roster. The implications are substantial. Sixty percent of the top 20 ranked federations’ points are generated through the professional circuit, driven by the performances of domestically based teams. With points earned now contributing toward qualification for the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028, this transition provides Great Britain with a significant boost in its Olympic pathway.

This development represents the latest chapter in the team’s evolution. Formerly competing as Princeton, the franchise was acquired by Alice and Ashley Hamilton ahead of the 2025 season. In an unconventional but strategic move, London 3x3 formed a partnership with Princeton and Drive 3x3 to coordinate the handover, a collaboration described by Damon Huffman as “the perfect marriage between old and new.” The arrangement allowed London 3x3 to bypass the traditional progression through Quest and Challenger events and move directly onto the World Tour stage. The outcome surpassed all expectations as London 3x3 capped its inaugural campaign by winning the Deqing stop on the FIBA 3x3 World Tour, an emphatic statement of intent.

The journey now enters a new phase. With British status secured, London 3x3 is positioned to elevate professional British 3x3 talent onto the international stage and further strengthen Great Britain’s presence within the global game. As the team continues to evolve, so too does the ambition surrounding the broader 3x3 ecosystem, with genuine belief that the most significant chapters are still to come.
